Members of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), during its 41st Annual General Meeting held in Abuja, unanimously voted Mr. Kelechi Nwosu, Managing Director TBWA Concepts, as its new president, succeeding Mrs Bunmi Oke. This is in line with the association’s tradition of elevating vice-presidents to the position of president.
Nwosu, who ran against Mr. Lanre Adisa of Noah’s Ark Communication, scored 35 votes while Adisa garnered 15 votes. Occupying the position of Vice President is Kayode Oluwasona, Managing Director of Harmonee Concepts, who pulled 37 votes defeating Dr Celey Okogun of Novelpotta Y&R who had 15 votes also.
Nwosu’s appointment is expected to introduce youthful zest and positive ideological change in the industry. He is obliged to fulfill his campaign promises and establish new landmarks for the association. In his campaign, Nwosu promised to refresh the overall elevation of advertising practice and profession “with the goal of extracting value for all association members in addition to building up respect from clients and their target public.”
The advertising industry in Nigeria, especially outdoor advertising, is witnessing a holistic over-haul thanks to the fast pace of digital and technological advancement. In lieu of his appointment, the entire VacantBoards team wishes Nwosu a successful tenure as he pushes the advertising sector to greater heights and confront the challenges facing the industry.
